Big Butterflies

Ha! Sometimes you just need Big Butterflies! Getting lettuce and cucumber from the garden the other day, a Monarch butterfly came and joined me (well… it did its thing. I don’t think it really cared to JOIN me). It made me stop – such gorgeous, vibrant, uplifting colours! The next time I settled to work, I didn’t do said work – I drew butterflies!

Big Butterflies

The images here have been flipped so that you could make big butterflies as decor to adorn the home: walls, chairs, etc. You could even use them outside for parties or functions. Think:

  • Weddings
  • Anniversaries
  • Princess Room
  • Garden Party
  • Fancy Dress

How to Make Big Butterflies

  • Print or print and paste onto card
  • Cut around the images
  • Fasten wrong sides together with glue or tape
  • Fold the wings up along the body edges, to give a little dimension and so that they look a little more realistic

Crafting Tips

  • Cut around the lower wings and lower body first before joining together. Then cut around the antennae so the more detailed cutting is done once and the butterfly will have perfectly matched edges.
  • Don’t bother yourself with trying to cut around the antennae perfectly. A little white space won’t hurt, will still look good and save you some stress!
  • Don’t waste glue, just dab on in strategic places to hold the thing together.

Happy Crafting!
