A couple of sayings: Music makes the world go around and feel the music. They are actually true. All cultures have some kind of music, even if only percussion or rhythymical beat. Sometimes it is in ritual, sometimes in protocol and sometimes for pleasure.

Music is a vibration, so you can actually feel it (think of noisy parties and thumping bass). A music teacher told me that music was an emotion – on questioning why he explained that music can literally move people to tears. (I know this, and I love music). Music can make the heart race, can make you happy/angry/mellow etcetera.
Who am I? Not a music expert, but I stuck to my guns and said I thought music EVOKED emotion, because that was our reaction to it. Is it just a matter of personal interpretation between the words EMOTION and EMOTIVE? … Enough of that!
