Homemade Green Glass Cleaner

As a homemaker for 24 years, I’m always on the look-out for great ways to not only save some money, but also get the job done. I’m never interested in homemade products that claim to save me money and the planet, but simply don’t work. Here’s a homemade product for cleaning glass that does all three.

All-Purpose Window and Glass Cleaner

  • 1/3 cup White Vinegar

  • 3-4 cups of water

  • 32-oz. Spray Bottle

Mix your vinegar and water in a spray bottle and you’re good to go. Vinegar is an amazing natural cleaning product for more than just windows and class. While this combination is 100% safe and non-toxic, adding one more ingredient will give this window cleaner some extra punch.

  • 1/2 Cup of Rubbing Alcohol

Once you’ve added the alcohol, you’ll want to be sure to clearly label the bottle because it looks like it’s just water. The cleaner is no longer non-toxic (although it’s still considered “green”) and should be kept out of the reach of little living bodies in your home such as children and pets.

How to Clean Windows and Glass Surfaces with Homemade Cleaner

To clean window and glass surfaces, crumpled newspaper works great – or try inexpensive coffee filter liners. Cloths, rags or paper towels can also be used, but be aware that these have a tendency to deposit lint on a freshly-cleaned surface. Don’t forget that if you use paper towels, newspaper or the coffee liners you can toss them into your compost pile!

This is good advice – I didn’t know about adding the extra ingredient, but have used vinegar and water many times. Need to buy some rubbing alcohol now and add that. I hate smelly chemicals and the vinegar doesn’t smell once finished. Thanks
